Remember the last post where I said I got in this year’s Calgary Expo artbook? no? look down, see that post right under this one. that’s the one I’m talking about. Go read that first, I’ll wait….Done? awesome. Anyway, technically I submitted 2 different designs and since I can’t show you the one that got in the book yet, here is the drawing they choose not to use.

I did two versions but I only submitted the one without the title and fake book look. Several people informed me that the art only version was superior. Personally I prefer the old book version but if you look at a lot of the drawings in my gallery I’m assuming you figured that out already.

While the picture they DID choose for the artbook was my first choice, this one does include a cameo of ME it the picture. and not a fancy self idealized skinny version but the big ole real tubby version of me.

Not unless you come to the Expo itself and buy the book and/or a print.

Last year I didn’t make it in and I felt pretty darned self pitying (I don’t mind telling you) but now the ego has been boosted again. I’m an artist, my whole self worth is based on my artwork.

A short time ago as I looked up at my 30th G.I. Joe Sky Striker I have hanging from my ceiling. (I have a lot of G.I. Joe, don’t you judge me! I see you judging. Stop that judging, little miss Judgerson) Why the hell there isn’t any nose art on the front of the plane? Well I need to make some.

First off I drew Scarlett. Depending on the Joe continuity you hold dear, this is either on Duke’s plane or Snake Eyes’. My personal belief system is Snake Eyes.

And then I drew Lady Jaye. Don’t matter which denomination of Joeverse you belong. Lady Jaye is Flint’s girl. This has a few Flint references, also as an added bonus to true joe fans. the dreaded NO STEP.

I recently attempted to make changes to my site. As many times before it caused some sort of catastrophic catastrophe. Final result was my friend Mike Rieger spent his evening fixing it. I suppose that’s my punishment for such epic updating failure.

So what’s new? Well let me tell you!

First and foremost. I will once again have a table at this years Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo. Artist’s Alley table number HO8

At said convention I will be selling some new stuffs,
After watching friends sell small knick knackery magnets and such I decided to steal their idea be inspired by them and make some small cute stuff to sell. This is what I came up with

So this weekend is the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo. As usual I will be down there, hocking my wares to any passer-bys. If your in the region, come on down and say Howdy. I will be situated at table F13 in the Artists Alley.

Recently the facebook page Bring Back Firefly decided to have a fanart contest. (If you’re in the neighbourhood click on the link and add your “like” to the drawing and help me win) The rules were basically create a original character with focus on the browncoat (The coat itself, not the fans or alternative names of the Independents). Since the show is all about the old and new fusion, I decided on a Victorian style fashion advert for a more trendy upscale version that some company would obviously produce in order to cash in on the romantic ideal of rebel bad boys.

And some more Fan art. This wasn’t for anything special, save my own amusement. I’ve always been a G.I. Joe fan. I had almost all the toys when I was young (recently I’ve gotten back into the habit though). I had the urge to draw something Joe related. Since everyone loves the Baroness, that’s where I went. Of course far be it from me to NOT make it something funny and retro looking. I really should try something else once in awhile. But here’s the Baroness in the annual Cobra Calender.
